Constructed of solid, high-impact plastic, this unique seat is specifically designed to reduce injury, and eliminate annoying "Toilet Seat Slam." The seat and lid utilize a built-in SoftClose hinge system, which lowers the seat down to the bowl gently and quietly. The engineering of SoftClose incorporates TOTO's high standard of quality. I really like the combo and it gave me just the look I was after. The price for the lid is awfully steep (a bit of a rip-off), but given that I'll be living with it for years, it still made sense to get it. In hindsight, I'm glad I did . . .	Date Reviewed: 10/12/2011 11:23:53 AM Overall Rating: Ease of Install: Pros: Easy to Install,Works Great Cons: Too much nonrecycelable shipping waste Other Thoughts: Toilet seat works well, but packaging was non-recycleable peanuts that were spray foamed into place making all shipping cardboard waste too. Two very large boxes which the toilet and seat came in needed to be thrown out instead of recycled because of all of the foam and peanuts adhered to them. We can't keep adding to our landfills unnecessarily. They need to hire someone to find a way to package product securely without adding to our huge waste problem. I emailed but haven't gotten a response.
